Drilling & Completion Chemicals
Drilling is cutting into the earth by means of a rotated drill string with a bit.
 Cuttings from the drilling are flushed upwards out of the drill hole during the
 drilling process.
The well hole is then lined with a casing usually made of steel or durable plastic. Well completion is the process of making a well ready for production after drilling operation. This is simply preparing the bottom of the hole to the required specification, running in the production tubing and its associated downhole tools as well as perforating and stimulating as required.Â
The main functions of drilling fluids are as follows:
- To avert hydrostatic pressure.
- To prevent formation fluids from entering into the well bore.
- To carryout drill cutting and to suspend the drill cutting when drilling is paused or
when the drilling assembly is brought in and out of the hole.
The completion fluid is meant to control a well, should a downhole hardware fail, without damaging the production formation or completion component.
